Sichuan Land Dispute Leads to Mafia Machete Attack

Pictures have surfaced on Weibo allegedly showing the gruesome attack that was launched on a group of farmers in Peng Xi, Sichuan, by government hired mafia thugs, reportedly over a land compensation dispute.  According to the blog entry written by poster, the thugs had intended to cut the legs off the farmers who were resisting the move that the local government was imposing on them.

A letter that was sent to Chinese reporters says that about 20 people armed with machetes and sticks after being invited to the government office in the nearest town to try to work out a solution that would suit the farmers and officials.

Written by one of the wives of the men who had his hands and feet chopped at with a machete,  the letter goes on to say that the farmers fled, and they were pelted with bricks and tiles.
