It might be the Ferraris that are parked outside the weekly meetings of the Beijing Super Car Club. It might be the fact that the sons and daughters of the super rich go around drinking 65rmb beers all night. It could well be the fact that almost everyone takes out a 47% interest loan just to be able to buy a iPad Mini, but something tells Wang Qishan that Chinese people are too hedonistic.
Call it Spidersense, call it women's intuition, Wang, 65 and childless has finally figure that Chinese people like stuff. They like expensive stuff, and they like a lot of it. But Wang believes that the best things in life are free, and Chinese people should try to live frugally just like their grandparents did in order to counter the "Highly infectious hedonism and extravagance" that has taken root in Chinese society.
A baffling message to put out publicly, since most of the Party's propaganda relies on promoting the idea that greed is good, it's probably more aimed at the few remaining idiot officials who think that they can get away with backhanders and getting caught on tape screwing their 21 year old mistresses.
Usually, the very fact that Chinese people can go out and buy a Lamborghini and several Tibetan hookers to go with it is a positive sign of the CCP's leadership, but as the War on Corruption continues, another reminder that the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection will find out exactly what you've been running up credit on. For now, to get rich might be glorious, but you'd better be sensibly investing the money in Chinese tech stocks (are you sure? Ed.) instead of stocking up on Rolex watches.

Lamborghini Fire Update
Late last night pictures were posted on Weibo showing a Lamborghini going up in flames on the fourth ring road. Reminiscent of a mysterious crash involving a black Ferrari Spider that caused quite a storm last year. That crash ended pretty badly, with the driver killed outright, and two female passengers (reported to be in "a state of undress") with him. The car hit a bridge with such speed that it was cleaved in two, and the unfortunate sod in the passenger seat was left paralyzed.

The burnt out shell is all that remains of this owners poor Lamborghini[/caption]
There seems to be no foul play involved this time around. According to Car China Times Lamborghinis have a habit of spontaneously combusting, to the point that Chinese insurance companies have been pushing away down-on-their-luck supercar owners because of the fault.
Still, with no reports of anyone killed or injured, it probably means that there's one more fuerdai off the roads, which is something to be thankful for.

The Mystery of the Black Ferrari
For some reason best know unto themselves (or until CDT publishes a new version of it's Ministry of Truth Directives) all references to a car crash that killed it's driver and injured two female passengers are being scrubbed from Chinese language Internet sites.
Netease, Sohu, and Tencent have removed references to "black Ferrari" from their databases and the usual "in accordance with local laws" message is being displayed instead of search results. According to the Global Times, the police "received the call around 4:24 Sunday morning. One injured woman, 31 years old, sustained a head injury and a fractured right leg, and she was sent to the [nearby] 306th Hospital of PLA for treatment." And that's about all we know. The PSB is refusing to comment on the case or on any progress that might be being made in the investigation, and thus online speculation is even more rampant, with many jumping to the right conclusion that the identity of the car's owner is the reason for the information clean-up.
The latest rumor is that Jia Qing Lin's illigitimate son may have been in control of the car at the time of the crash.
