Christian Woman Missing After Botched Vasectomy Protest

Reports surfaced last week that a Chinese Christian who tried to blame her husband's chronic illness on the forced vasectomy that local official made him undergo has not been in contact with family or friends for several days.

Wang Xuebai's husband, Li Defu, has been suffering from ever increasing agony which deteriorated into paralysis since early 2012, and after visiting several hospitals, a consultation at The Family Planning Clinic in Zhengzhou confirmed that a botched vasectomy that had been carried out on Li because the couple already has two children, was to blame

“Although I have been taking him to all the hospitals around, there is still no sign of recovery,” Wang said. “On the contrary, it becomes even worse. In November 2011, he was completely paralyzed in bed.”

Wang appealed several times to the local government to try to get them to admit that the vasectomy they had forced him to get was the cause, but she was detained several times and told that she wasn't allowed to visit the court again.  In on instance, she was illegally held without charge for a week.

On July 22nd, after being forced into a car to travel for medical tests, official results that were made public on August 3rd claimed that the cause of Li's medical problems wasn't in fact the vasectomy procedure, but something else entirely.  As of August 26th, nothing had been heard from Wang Xue Bai for at least a week, and many believe that she has been detained, again without charge, at the behest of the local government.
